Buck on my predator trail

Getting that time of the year for the bucks to get a little crazy. Had this trail camera set up close for bobcats and coyotes, but checked it today and had several pictures of deer.

I design all my cameras to take a picture as soon as the animal gets into the field of view, especially for smaller animals up close. Just a matter of getting the field of view on the sensor the same as on the camera. This nice blacktail buck just came into the picture and looks like it had been rubbing a tree and still has moss on his antlers.

Bobcat

Getting closer to the best time of the year for getting bobcat pictures. The air is clean after a nice rain and their fur is in the best condition for winter. Found some nice trail for close photos, so should be fun. Been trying to get my new house ready for the framers, so it's really a busy time for me.

Couple of Red Tail hawks up close

Boy, what a week. I had the hard drive on my computer crash on me, so had it in the shop for over a week trying to retrieve the last 6 months of pictures. I was waiting to back up the pictures after I found the ones I wanted to use for my calendar. They installed a new hard drive and found the pictures so back in business.

This a picture I got of two hawks fighting about two feet in front of the camera. The camera was set for bobcats with some scent I was experimenting with and not sure why the hawks found it so interesting.

Herd of elk checking out the camera

When I got to this game camera it was twisted upside down so I knew I had some elk pictures. The one elk in the picture spotted the camera and gave it a whack. Didn't bother it much but the rest of the pictures were all blurry.

Young Raccoons searching for food

Not that often I get pictures of more than one raccoon at a time, but these two young raccoons are searching for food under the rocks on this gravel bar. I pulled my cameras along the creeks last week because of all the rain and the water can get high pretty fast. Will keep them in the house for a while to clean them up and then put them back out for deer. Hunting season now so I try to get off the main trails and into some brush holes to avoid the hunters.

Pair of Wooducks at night

I enjoy getting duck pictures in different locations and end up with several thousand during the year. This pair of wooducks in the night showing the hens reflection turned out quite nice. It was taken with one of my game cameras I built using a Sony 600. What I like about the 600 is the camera can adjust the flash in the auto mode for close pictures by keeping the glare to a minimum. This also is an advantage and works well for other animals up close.

Turkey on the predator trail

Turkey population is on the rise in our area, even with a wet and cool spring and summer. They like to feed in this open area and travel a lot on the game trails. I have never seen any feathers that would show where a turkey was killed by a coyote or bobcat.
