Blue Heron at night

The Blue Heron makes a great picture at night. This location has been changed by the river flooding this year and will take several years for the animals to use this area.

As you might have noticed, I have removed most of the older pictures and will stay with just 10 on the blog. As I place a picture on the site I will take one off to make it easier to handle.

Flock of Turkeys along the river

I had to put a picture on taken this summer just so I could see daylight. With all the rain and now freezing fog it's a pick-me-up.

The poults were growing well and feeding along the river bank.

Looking into the eyes of a Coyote

I got this picture of the coyote at 4 feet from the camera while walking a log. I like to set the cams close to learn about their habits. I cropped the picture so you can look into it's eyes while it hunts.

It bristled it's neck hair when it saw the camera and that's why it's a little blurry. I really like this picture.

Sony 600 flash is a little bright

I like the quality of the Sony S600 and it works great, but the flash is rather bright for close pictures. This young bobcat got an eyefull and still stayed for several pictures.

Working on a flash diffuser to take a little off the flash and not reduce the flash distance.

Red Tail by the creek

I spent over half an hour setting those two logs just right for the hawks to land. I wanted the hawk to land on the upper log and then hop to the log it's sitting on, maybe getting a picture while it was in the air.

It landed on the lower log and almost out of the picture, but I'll take whatever the animals will give me. The freezing weather made the picture turn out better.

Bobcat in stealth mode

This location has been very good for bobcats. Did get a nice coyote picture here also.

Coyote on a Ridge Trail

Everything seemed to work for this Coyote picture. A little daylight in the background over the ridge and dark enough in the timber for the flash to brighten up the coyote.

Young Bobcat stopped to look at the camera

That last storm knocked out our internet service for 5 days, so this is the first chance to update the pictures.

Here's a picture of this years bobcat kitten that decided to stop and look at the camera. Had several pictures of it sneaking up on the cam. With all the rain this has been a great location for cats hunting for food.

This is a very close setup and had some trouble with the camera focus, so moved it back one foot to see if it gets better.

Red Tail Hawk hunkered in the rain

This photograph was taken with my new Sony S600 camera. I was hoping to get more pictures, but the heavy rain has made it difficult for any type of animal movement. Even this hawk looked like it would rather be somewhere else.

New trail camera using the XLP board

Just finished a new camera setup using the XLP board from Whitetail Supply. I've been trying to get the second picture faster for the trails. I Tried several different boards using a fast picture mode but have been less than satisfied with most of them.

This board uses 2 small round batteries that set on the board so there's no need for a nine volt battery. Saves space in the case and is easy to hook up to the camera.
The setting I'm using will take a fast first picture and then follow up with 7 pictures as fast as the camera can recharge the flash. The best part is the sensor doesn't have to pick up any movement. Will get some pictures without an animal but should get some good pictures that would have missed using a 10 second delay. In low light the times will vary from 2 to 4 seconds between pictures.

I set the camera out Friday so can't wait to see how it works.
