Sony 600 flash is a little bright

I like the quality of the Sony S600 and it works great, but the flash is rather bright for close pictures. This young bobcat got an eyefull and still stayed for several pictures.

Working on a flash diffuser to take a little off the flash and not reduce the flash distance.

Cliff, in your picture: how far away is the cat from the camera? and how far away is the furthest large log that you can see in the picture??? also I have another question can you turn the flash off so that the camera will take pics with out being noticed, say if one wanted to use it for a security cam??? thanks, Rob

The cat is about 3 feet - the cedar tree is 13 feet and the far end of big log in the back is 20feet.

The flash can be turned off and most control boards can be set for day only, but if you have some type of yard light it might be enough for night pics without the flash.
