Beaver slide pictures

I used an Olympus 380 aimed at this beaver slide, it was so steep I set the camera very close knowing the 380 is a fast camera, but forgot to allow for the 2 most important things to do when doing closeups around water. One is to allow more time for the trigger speed to pick up the heat from an animal just leaving the cold water...first big mistake, and the other is the fact that I make a narrow opening for my sensor which works the best for side to side movement from animals...big mistake when the beaver came sliding down the hill of mud with some ferns it had cut. So, I moved the camera out into the water tied to a couple of sticks I drove into the mud, this gives me more distance to the trail and hopefully a better photo. Only problem now is it started raining hard on the way out and the forcast is for rain all week and the camera is only 3 inches above the water.

The sun finally came out from behind the rain clouds

Weather has been cold and wet the last couple of months and was working on some cameras so never had any out in the woods. I finally put 6 cameras out just to see whats moving about and was more of a good hike than noticing much fresh activity. Today is very nice and sunny so will fix several more cameras and get them out in a different location.

Have been feeling pretty good and the long hike felt great. Might try building a small video unit for daytime only and use it around creeks, ducks would be a good target and easy to video.
