Black bear digging

This is a nice black bear sow getting real deep into the log for food. She has twin cubs, both also black and they love to climb the cedar tree just behind the buried log. Bears diet changes during the year so knowing what they eat helps find their location. Berries during the late part of summer is a good choice as they fatten up for winter.

Bear after ants

I learned that the bears are back at the ant log looking for grubs and anything else to eat. Got some close pictures of several bears and only a couple of cameras got hit hard. I do set them very close and low to the ground for the best pictures.

Also, I have been moving into the new house and had gall bladder surgery which has slowed the pictures down a lot. Plus I moved all my cameras within bicycle distance from the house to save on gas. It's a great area and expect some nice pictures.

Spiders, cobwebs and trail cameras

Sometimes you can find a great location and have a spider build a web in front of the camera lens. Seems like it's just part of the game of hide and seek, trying to hide the camera in moss and other natural vegetation close at hand to seek out the best picture possible.

Calf Elk by the pond trail

Seems this young calf elk liked the grass better in front of the camera and had it's picture taken 6 or so times as it fed. With the wet weather lately the grass seems to grow too fast to have a camera by the pond for small animals so was glad to get this photo before moving it to a different location. Calf elk loose their spots faster than deer, so it's always nice to get a photo of the babies still with spots.

Raccoon on my bobcat log

I changed cameras on the bobcat log to a P41 using a Yeti board and also raised the camera to show the size of the log. The Yeti board is great for closeup pictures because it is fast and never misses an animal, plus I have it set on double picture mode as I do with all of my cameras.

The camera is hid in moss so the first picture is natural animal behavior without them looking at the camera. It keeps the eye glare down and lets me know the speed the animals have when walking logs as compared to open trails.

Part albino buck

Haven't seen this buck in the area, but did get an albino fawn several years back and I know of several other people that have seen an older part albino buck within a couple of miles of this location. I like the markings on this guy but chance of getting another picture later this summer are pretty slim.
