No owl yet on the stump trail camera

No owl, but at least I had a photo of an animal for a change, that's progress for me. Pleased with the quality of the picture with the focus and flash, so the settings will work just fine. Spring might be a better time of the year for an owl on the stump, but have went through several years already and not sure when is the best time for a random stump landing.

Nice youthful looking coon. Well done.

I wonder if you could call in an owl? This summer I made a cassette player/caller with a timer that mounts on a tree. I was hoping to use it with an owl model, but it's on the bulky side, and I couldn't make decent tape loops. Then my daughter made me a CD of owl calls from the internet, with far better sound, and we brought in a few screech owls and horned owls. I can also play the calls on repeat mode. The problem is I can't wire it to a timer so it will shut off and save battery power. My goal was to have the camera trap ready for the owl as it reacted to the model, but now I am at a standstill. The hooters should start calling soon though. Good luck and keep after it.
